Two young girls who were reported missing after the horrifying Grenfell Tower fire in the North Kensington area of London in the UK were found alive shortly after being reported missing.
Malek Belkadi and her younger sister Tazmin were rescued from the top of the flame-engulfed tower after escaping from their home on the 20th floor, and as of the time of writing this post, are recovering in hospital.
According to the UK media’s most recent reports, 17 people are confirmed dead and many more have gone missing since the fires. Thoughts and prayers go out to the families.
Ousama Itani, a resident who is attempting to reunite families, said that the sisters had been recently found in a hospital.
“These two girls here were unaccounted for and were recently just accounted for in a hospital but we’re still looking for their parents and a small baby in their family as well. The little girls were found near the top of the building so we’re very happy they were actually rescued. The sisters were in the family’s flat when the fire broke out just before 1am yesterday.” he told Sky News.
The 24-storey tower in North Kensington, near Notting Hill in West London went up in flames in the early hours of Wednesday (June 13, 2017) morning, and the building is still being searched by firefighters to see whether or not there are still people inside.
UK celebrity chef Jamie Oliver is currently providing free shelter, food and drinks to all victims of the fire at his nearby restaurant, Jamie’s Italian located within the Westfield mall nearby.
