Before the glory days of Fifth Harmony and The Pussycat Dolls, there was a little golden era called the early 2000s, where bands like Destiny’s Child were at their highest points. But if you think of girl bands that were popular at the beginning of the 21st century, it is impossible not to mention the Spice Girls.
Spice Girls was formed in 1994, and it consisted of 5 singers, all of them with special band names, those being Baby Spice, Posh Spice, Scary Spice, Sporty Spice and Ginger Spice.
Their song ‘Wannabe’ gave them worldwide success, and their debut album has hit over 31 million sales worldwide. Their success was prominent through the years before the eventual breakup in 1998, but their popularity carried over into the early 2000s, they were on top of the world, and everyone was listening to them.
But where are the Spice Girls nowadays? That’s what we’re here to answer.
1. Baby Spice
Emma Bunton was the youngest member of the group, hence the name. After rolling with the Spice group for some time she broke off to go solo and released her debut solo album titled “A Girl Like Me”. In 2007, she reunited with the girls once again for an international tour as well as a greatest hits album.
In 2011, she was engaged to ‘Damage’ singer Jade Jones. The couple are currently raising two children, Beau Lee Jones and Tate Lee Jones.
2. Ginger Spice
Geri Halliwell only rolled with the Spice Girls for about 4 years, and then in 1998 she left and decided to do her own thing. She achieved a huge amount of success and was nominated for four Brit Awards.
Halliwell also has a child, Bluebell Madonna that she gave birth to in 2006.
3. Sporty Spice
Melanie Chisholm also went solo after the breakup, and she especially got started when she collaborated with Bryan Adams on her song “When You’re Gone”, released in 1998.
And considering that she was labeled ‘Sporty Spice’ it’s no surprise to hear that the singer is also an amateur triathlete and has finished the London Triathlon twice!
4. Scary Spice
Melanie Janine Brown went the same path as Sporty Spice by collaborating with a big artist to kick off her solo career, specifically with Missy Elliot on ‘I Want You Back’. She also did some non-singing projects, such as presenting various TV shows, and more recently, starring in the 2010 Xbox 360 video game Get Fit With Mel B, which according to Amazon reviews, is good.
She was also a guest judge on the X Factor from 2011 to 2012 and then later joined the judge lineup fully.
5. Posh Spice
And finally, the Spice Girl that agreeably had the most success of all the Spice Girls after they broke up.
Last month Victoria received an OBE from the British crown for services to the fashion industry, where she is a designer and model. She started dating soccer player David Beckham in 1997 and they got engaged in 1998, and together they have three sons and one daughter.
They were also notably reunited during the 2012 London Olympics
