The Invisalign is fantastic, and nearly imperceptible as an alternative to traditional braces. However, they cost thousands of dollars.
Digital design student, Amos Dudley found a way to get to them. He’s now straightening his teeth with clear braces that he printed on a 3D printer.
He’s been wearing them for 16 weeks and they cost him $60. This is pure genius, especially when you consider the fact that his teeth are going in the right direction. Same as if an orthodontist made them.
This is Amos Dudley, a design student at the New Jersey Institute of Technology.
He used NJIT’s equipment to scan and print models of his teeth, and mold non-toxic plastic around them to form the set of 12 clear braces.
Like we said, $60, if you don’t count the schools’s 3D printer.
