The event recognizes achievements in acting and it is one of the rare award ceremonies where actors are honored by their colleagues and peers.
For outstanding performances in film and primetime television, the ceremony bestows a statuette called The Actor to the recipients. It is 16 inches tall, weighs over 12 pounds and shows a man holding the masks of comedy and tragedy.
