Thieves are a major problem in today’s society. Last year, during the last analysis by the FBI, the US saw a total of nearly 330,000 robberies nationwide, accounting for a loss of well over $390 million dollars (an estimated $1,190 per robbery). For those that do get caught in the act, they get the appropriate punishment, but how would you feel if your punishment for stealing something was a giant tattoo that you couldn’t choose or hide?
Well, that’s exactly what happened to this unnamed teenager.
The 17-year-old from Brazil allegedly stole a bicycle from a man with only one leg. Tattoo artist Maycon Wesley cornered the guy, sat him down on a chair and inked the Portugese words ‘Eu sou ladrão e vacilão’ on his forehead, translated in English that means “I am a thief and a loser”. Ouch.
Here’s a video of the inking process, and I suggest watching it at your own risk.
They also apparently cut his hair back so that the tattoo would be visible.
The finished ink looks something like this:
Speaking to Folha de S.Paulo newspaper, the teen said: “I asked them to make the tattoo on my arm but they said they would do it on my forehead and started laughing.
“I begged them to break my arms and legs instead.”
The boy denies trying to steal the bike, instead insisting that he had fallen over it while he was ‘very drunk’.
The tattooist and his friend, Ronildo Moreira de Araujo (whose voice you hear in the video), were both arrested on suspicion of torture on Saturday.
Ever since the tattooing happened, the boy went missing but was found on Sunday (The 11th of June 2017), and a crowdfunding campaign has since been set up to help him afford the laser surgery removal to avoid further embarassment and humiliation.
