Matte lipstick always seems like a good idea but then you slap some on and the results seem a little dated…That was until I got myself informed about the correct way to apply (apparently ‘slap on’ does not cut the mustard) and know I love it! So much so that I want to share it with you as well so you can retrieve those mattes out from the bottom of you makeup bag and breathe new non-90s life into them.
1. Exfoliate your lips.
It’s in the name lipstick is sticky so make sure there;s nothing on your lips to stick to except your lips. Use a sugar scrub or a soft bristle tooth brush to rid your lips of any dead or dry skin.
2. Add moisture.
Once your lips are clean you need to moisturize them, to help fill in any cracks and allow your lipstick to be applied evenly. Use lip balm.
3. Apply your face
You lips now need to soak in the moisture, so continue with the rest of your routine in the meantime.
4. Use lip liner
You need to get the lipstick right on the first try, as wiping on and off can leave stains because of the strong coloring.
Outlining your lips with lip liner gives you the correct shape to color in.
