If we were asked what bravery and dedication means, many would think of the fictional character of Forrest Gump. The 1994 movie, Forrest Gump, that was in fact based on the 1986 novel of the same name, saw a slow-witted, but kind-hearted and persistent boy from Alabama. We have no doubts that you already love the grown-up Forrest Gump, played by Tom Hanks, and you probably can’t wait to hear something new about him, too. However, Michael Connor Humphreys was the actor who stayed in your heart forever. He portrayed the young boy who has a medical condition forcing him to wear leg braces. But, these won’t stay forever on his legs. Along with the loving Alabama boy, there was his childhood sweetheart and courageous friend, Jenny, who was played by young Hanna Hall. Hanna played the role beautifully – and even as a kid it was not hard to see what Forrest saw in her. These actors and a lot more from the cast are new people now.

What are these people up to nowadays, after the influence they had on so many people’s lives as they sent a strong message of acceptance and persistence?
Remember everyone’s most favorite line of the movie?
“Run, Forrest! Run!”
1. Michael Conner Humphreys
First, the actor who played Forrest Gump as a boy, Michael Conner Humphreys, turned into a real hero. He grew up and signed up for the US Army in 2004, instead of going on with his acting career. Surprisingly, he was inspired by the real marines he met on set.

In fact, in 2008, he left to fight in Iraq and served for 18 months overseas. Can you guess his nickname in camp? Gump! After this tour, however, Michael left the army to study International Relations at the University of North Alabama.
That is not all, folks! He also ran in a six-mile charity run, and people in the crowd cheered him on by shouting “run Forrest, run.” In terms of acting, he did have a small role in 2011’s Pathfinders. But no more movies after that.
2. Hanna Hall
Second, here comes Ms. Jenny, the love of young Forrest’s life…
Hanna Hall is all grown up! Since 2012, the 33-year-old has been directing underground plays as a theater director in Venice, California.
