Remember Kevin Federline, the former Mickey Mouse Club star and Britney Spears’ ex-husband? Unlike his Mickey Mouse Club co-stars, the 38-year-old dancer, DJ and model has been pretty much out of the public eye for a while.
Despite his media abscence, Kevin has been far from unproductive: the Californian is happily married and has been focusing on raising his six children in recent years.
Find out some interesting facts about Kevin, as well as what he has been up to lately.
Kevin was born Kevin Earl Federline in Fresno, California, to parents Mike – a mechanic, and Julie – a bank teller.
He was a high school drop-out. He later earned a certificate of General Educational Development and began dancing with a nonprofit organization called Dance Empowerment.
His big break came when he became a backup dancer for acts such as Michael Jackson, Justin Timberlake, Destiny’s Child and P!nk.
Before marrying Britney Spears he was engaged to actress Shar Jackson with whom he has a daughter, Kori Madison Federline, and a son, Kaleb Michael Jackson Federline. The relationship fell through soon after Kaleb’s birth.
Federline and Britney met through mutual friends and got engaged in July 2004, after a couple of months dating.
Two months later they were married at a nondenominational ceremony in Studio City, California. They have two sons: Sean Preston Federline and Jayden James Federline.
Federline and Spears starred in their own reality show called ‘Britney & Kevin: Chaotic’. Kevin appeared in the 2004 movie You Got Served and guest-starred in a CSI episode in October 2006.
He also made an appearance on the NBC show 1 vs 100
In a recent interview with ET Online, Federline candidly admitted that the lifestyle he led during those days was never his thing:
‘I mean, just getting around from place to place and having 20 people follow you all day long – your whole life kind of being told through somebody else’s eyes. Everybody wants to put their own spin on it.’
Britney Spears filed for divorce on the 7th of November, 2006 due to “irreconcilable differences”. She also demanded physical and legal custody over their sons, with visitation rights for Federline.
According to a statement by Kevin’s lawyer, the initiation of divorce proceedings ‘caught him totally by surprise’. His response was to seek physical and legal custody of the children as well.
In a recent interview he stated that he didn’t see the divorce coming:
‘it was at the, like, height of everything and you’re thrown into this thing and you’re thrown into that thing and the in-between stuff. I know it happened. I know why it happened. That’s pretty much all that I’m going to say.’
