Woman Sends A Powerful Message To A Man Who Called Her Fat

Body-shaming is real. Although we live in the 21st century, we are still witnessing body shaming on social media, or on the street. But, luckily, women, in particular, have made it clear that they are not going to sit quietly waiting for people to criticise their bodies. Some take it to social media and Instagram, and are not afraid to fight back at those who are criticizing them. Some men think that it is their right to tell women what they need to wear or what they need to look like, but every woman’s body is hers only. Kelly Roberts is one of the people who fought back at a man who called her fat. Her story of transformation is heartbreaking and worth noticing.

Kelly always considered herself to be “unconventionally skinny.” But, then, her brother died from acute alcohol poisoning, and her life changed. She put on over 75 pounds. And after quite some time, instead of dieting, she just wanted to stay healthy.

Then, she decided to start running. Three years later, she launched the #SportsBraSquad because she didn’t want to be ashamed of her body anymore.

Kelly wanted people to become proud of how strong their bodies were. However, some people missed the point, like this man, for instance.

Then, she gave the man this response.

“Dear man who found it appropriate to send me this email…”

“Once upon a time, your words would have cut me like Valyrian steel. Today? They remind me how important it is to change the way we see strength. Because what you call fat, I know can run a marathon in 3 hours in 41 minutes. I hope one day you can obtain the strength I’ve worked tirelessly for. Until then, know that I will spend the rest of my life empowering the women you hope to shame.”

She may not look like a skinny athlete or a model, but she can run a marathon in under four hours. And THAT’S awesome.
