Nice guys finish last?
Well, you might be the cutest, funniest, most charming, voted best personality in the world. You might have all the money in the world, donate to charity, help the elderly, work your butt off to give back to society. And yet still see that crush of yours walk by with something the world knows ia a bad boy.
Let’s look through history and see whose fault it is…
James Dean, Marlon Brando, Jax from Sons of Anarchy… They certainly helped perpetuate this infatuation with the rough, troubled male that needs to be taken care of. You know the one that doesn’t call, keeps you up at night, but has this certain voice when he says ‘Baby.’?
In a recent survey in Austraila, researchers found that women tend to find men who like to live dangerously much more attractive than those who like to play it safe, according to the Daily Star. But the real question here is why?
Matthew Hornsey, Ph.D, the man behind the survey says:
Nonconformity suggests qualities that women typically find attractive, like risk-taking and assertiveness.
It communicates authenticity, which in an image-obsessed world has become a rare and valuable commodity.
Another survey carried out by Badoo shows that half the women in Britain have fallen for a bad boy.
When they were asked what they found attractive, they claimed that it was the excitement that goes hand in hand with rebellious guys. Combine that with their ‘mysterious and unpredictable’ nature they sometimes work so hard to demonstrate – and you have a heartbreaker.
Badoo’s spokesperson, Joelle Hadfield said:
If you were to ask hundreds of men and women the traits they are looking for in a partner, answers would largely include kindness, patience and respect.
However, a large proportion of both women and men in Britain seem to be attracted to risky, ‘bad’ boys or girls, mainly due to looks and a perception that the relationship will be more exciting.
It’s important to remember that this is only physical attraction and will not find you a long-lasting, happy relationship.
So yeah, bad boys can be fun and a thrill to be with until a certain point. But whether you’ll continue to put up with their behavior, well, that’s on you.
