When it comes to celebrities and their way of life, most people think that they are living a perfect and dreamy fairytale life. Even though they appear in the media with their new songs or movies, some of them go home with chronic illnesses, which makes their everyday life a struggle.


Some of the more notable celebs with chronic illnesses include Charlie Sheen, who has HIV and Michael J. Fox (Parkinson’s).

The 71-year-old singer has been suffering from chronic fatigue syndrome since 1991.

“My experience was that it was really a physical illness — but it does make you depressed as well … Boy, it was devastating for me,” she said in a BBC interview.

2. Alec Baldwin

The 59-year-old actor has been fighting Lyme disease. Besides other popular roles, he is recently most famous for his comedic sketches as Donald Trump on SNL.

“I got the classic Lyme disease (symptoms) for each successive summer, for five years, every August, like this black lung, flu-like symptoms, sweating to death in my bed,” he said. “The first time was the worst of all, and I really thought this is it, I’m not going to live. I was alone, I wasn’t married at the time, I was divorced from my first wife. I was lying in bed saying, ‘I’m going to die of Lyme disease,’ in my bed and ‘I hope someone finds me and I’m not here for too long’.”

The super famous TV reality star, has psoriasis. That is a skin condition which causes crusty, red patches.

“I’m always hoping for a cure, of course, but in the meantime, I’m learning to just accept it as part of who I am,” the 37-year-old star wrote on her website.

Ozzy Osbourne’s  32-year-old  son was diagnosed with multiple sclerosis. Even though it affects the brain and the spinal cord he said that his illness is “not a death sentence.”

The 80-year-old super famous actor revealed that he suffers from fibromyalgia. It is a condition which causes excruciating pain in the joints.

“Up and down the arm. That’s where it gets so bad. Excruciating,” he said.

The 31-year-old NYC-born singer also suffers from fibromyalgia, which once was the reason for her to cancel a concert in Brazil. Stefani was taken to a hospital because of “severe pain.”

One of the Modern Family’s stars, Sarah Hyland was born with kidney dysplasia. This means that her kidneys didn’t develop properly.

Her father donated one of his kidneys when she turned 21. “I was born with so many health issues that doctors told my mother I would never have a normal life.You’re right, she won’t – but it won’t be because of her health’,” she said.

8. Nick Jonas

The Chains singer has been suffering from Type 1 diabetes since the age of 13. It is a disorder that causes the body not to produce insulin, and that’s why he wears an insulin pump. He described it as “one of the most frightening moments of my life.”

The 27-year-old model has been diagnosed with Crohn’s disease. It causes inflammation of the digestive system. Some of the symptoms of this disease are diarrhea, vomiting, and abdominal pain.

“Effectively my body went into shut down and I only just managed to make it to the end [of Big Brother],” Sam disclosed for BT. “I’d be crying with the pain, violently ill after eating anything, with boils on my face, no energy and such terrible joint pain in my ankles I could barely walk.”
