There’s not gonna be a single quiet person in the room once they find out that the sequel to A Quiet Place is really, actually happening!

A Quiet Place was made on a budget of $17 million and after its premiere at SXSW a year ago, it was an instant hit with the audience. It had a $50.2 million domestic opening, largely surpassing the expected $30 million. The movie also garnered a whopping $340 worldwide.

There is almost no dialogue in the flick and it relies solely on acting and sound effects, as it follows a family in the midst of trying to survive alien monsters who have extraordinary hearing. Thus, they have to live while trying to make as little sound as possible or face a brutal, horrifying death.

At the end of the first movie, Blunt’s character is seen, riffle-in-hand, as she tries to protect her family following her husband’s (Krasinski) sacrificial death, and her own traumatic, near-silent birth.

Apparently, Krasinski has been working on the script for the sequel with writers Bryan Woods and Scott Beck, who have all received a Writers Guild nomination for the script of the first movie. Talking to Entertainment Weekly, Krasinski said that the world of the movie “is a world you can play in.”

“It’s not like ‘Alien’ or ‘Jaws’ where the main villain is the thing you’re repeating,” he added. “It’s an actual entire set of rules and the circumstance that the world has undergone that you can play in very different facets.”

According to Production Weekly, A Quiet Place 2 will film in Upstate New York, where the first movie was also filmed, and shooting will begin in July. Seeing as the main original cast included only Krasinski, Blunt, and their two children portrayed by Millicent Simmonds and Noah Jupe, it is unclear whether a casting call will be opened.

A Quiet Place is nominated for an Oscar for Best Achievement in Sound Editing.
