Looks like Adele and her husband, Simon Konecki, are calling their relationship quits.
Representatives for the couple, who have been together for over seven years and share a 6-year-old son, Angelo James, confirmed the news to the Associated Press via email on Friday evening.
“Adele and her partner have separated,” the statement read. “They are committed to raising their son together lovingly. As always they ask for privacy. There will be no further comment.”
The Grammy-winning singer, 30, and the entrepreneur, 44, first got together in late 2011 and went public in January 2012, the same year their son was born. The two have been largely private about their relationship and family life, so much so that fans don’t even know when the two got married.
But the “Hello” singer did confirm they had tied the know at the 2017 Grammy Awards when she won album of the year. “Grammys, I appreciate it,” she said in her acceptance speech at the time. “The Academy, I love you. My manager, my husband, and my son — you’re the only reason I do it.”
Back in 2016, speaking to Vanity Fair about her relationship to the 44-year-old businessman, Adele said that she has “no desire to be with anyone in show business because we all have egos,” adding that Konecki is “not threatened by any stage of my life that I’m going for, and that’s an amazing thing. It’s the most serious relationship I’ve ever been in.”
That was the same year that pink strips of paper fell from the ceiling at one of the singer’s concerts, holding messages like “I love you” and “You are an angel”, which fans believed to be from her husband.
Adele has been mostly out of the public eye ever since she concluded her last world tour in 2017, but she did make a hilarious and iconic appearance alongside Jennifer Lawrence at a New York City nightclub earlier this year.
She was also seen entering a recording studio last month, which means we can expect new music soon – at the time, she was not wearing a wedding ring.
