7 Affordable Drugstore Products That Should Be Part Of Your Beauty Routine

We all know how expensive skin care can be. But since it is one of the most important routines that should be part of our everyday life, most of us just suck it up and spend a huge portion of our wage on these products just so that we have fresh and clear skin. While that works well for people who make good money every month, other people might simply not be willing to spend a fortune on skincare, no matter how much they might need it. So, do you want the bad news, the good news or the better news first?

Look, the bad news is that when we purchase a beauty product, we are not actually paying only for the ingredients that are in that product. We are paying way more for the brand.  The good news is that it is quite simple to find different yet effective alternatives that have the same ingredients for much cheaper in a drugstore. And the better news? The results can be much better if we compare them with expensive creams.

1. Spongilla

Spongilla is used to fix bruises. It is a freshwater sponge that stops the swelling up of the damaged area, it improves the blood flow and it also is used as an exfoliator since it has some small needles. Spongilla can be used to treat acne scars and to unclog the pores. It comes in two forms, powder, and gel. If you have sensitive skin, then we recommend you use gel the first time you try it out as it may be too rough on your skin. If you see that your skin did not have any unwanted reaction, then you can switch to powder.

2. Salicylic-zinc paste

This paste is one of the most effective remedies when it comes to pimples. It’s all due to the main component, zinc oxide. Its properties are in abundance, such as reducing inflammation, relieving acne symptoms as well as protecting the skin from harsh sun rays. What you can do is apply the paste onto the pimple when you notice that it is about to appear. In this way, you will prevent it from appearing. You can also use it as a coverage, thanks to its firm structure and white color.

3. Laminaria

Yes, it is quite similar to sea cabbage or seaweed and you can find it in most body wraps that fight cellulite. It works by improving the skin’s elasticity and promoting general good health. Just wrap yourself up with a plastic wrap so that the laminaria doesn’t fall off. The best part? You can do this in the comfort of your home. If you want better results, then simply put a warm blanket on the top.

4. Alpha-lipoic acid

With the passage of time, our skin loses its elasticity and then wrinkles appear. One very effective remedy is the alpha-lipoic acid. Due to its antioxidant properties, this acid has gained popularity in cosmetology. It prevents the appearance of wrinkles by preventing the accumulation of sugar on the collagen fibers. You can use this acid as a serum before the cream from two to three times a week.

5. Arnica

Cosmetology has been using the flowers of Arnica Montana as main ingredients added to skin care products as well as shampoos and hair conditioners. The homeopathic paste improves blood flow and lymph circulation. Moreover, it has other extremely useful properties such as soothing and regenerating the skin as well as keeping the skin nourished and moisturized. It also helps us stay away from wrinkles.

6. Aspirin

You probably already know this, but I will say it just in case. The acetylsalicylic acid, which we may know by its popular name, aspirin, is used to thin down the blood. Since it has this property, aspirin improves blood circulation and helps it flow even to the upper layers of our skin. This directly affects the nourishment of skin by providing it with the essential vitamins and minerals. There are many at-home remedies you can come up with that contain aspirin. For instance, take one aspirin pill and mix it well with one tbsp of sour cream. After that, simply apply this mask to a thoroughly-cleansed skin and leave it on for 15 minutes. When 15 minutes have elapsed, rinse the mixture off with warm water.

7. Enterosgel

Enterosgel has absorbing properties, and thanks to its cellular structure, it soaks up the elements that weren’t metabolized. So it is a very effective remedy when it comes to getting rid of intoxication. It can also be used to conceal the signs of a bad night’s sleep. If you want to wake up with a fresh face, then simply apply a thin layer of enterosgel before you go to bed.
