Think of your dream job… What does it look like? Does it have a lot of lying around doing nothing? Maybe reading what you like all day long, or watching your favorite movies or TV shows, or listening to your favorite songs? But what it will definitely have is food, am I right? Well, no matter what your dream job looks like, it’s probably about to change because we’ve just found you a new one: The Italian Sabbatical.
But just what is the Italian Sabbatical? Well, it’s an effort by Airbnb to revitalize the Italian town of Grottole by paying a group of four people to live there, all expenses covered.
The village of Grottole is located in the south of Italy, and it’s a small town of only 300 residents. However, there are over 600 homes in which no one lives in, and the town is at risk of disappearing, so Airbnb will pay four people to stay there for three months during which time they will become immersed in the town’s culture and daily life.
The description on The Italian Sabbatical site reads:
Escape the hustle and bustle of the city and become a temporary citizen of a village in the south of Italy. Immerse yourself in the local culture and discover how to speak, act and cook the Italian way. You will also get to support the local community by hosting an Airbnb Experience. Your goal? To help the local community revitalize the small village of Grottole.

If you were to apply for the position and get accepted, what you would do there does sound like a dream. You would be accompanied by the locals while you learn how to make local dishes, grow local produce, explore the Italian countryside, and even join them for an aperitivo, which is an Italian tradition where you have a drink or a light meal with family or friends after the work day, but before dinner.
If it sounds like something you are interested in trying, you can apply here (just scroll all the way down to the end). You have time until midnight on February 17, 2019.
