Makeup Artist Alexis Stone Had People Convinced He Got Dramatic Plastic Surgery For Three Months

In an effort to bring attention to cyberbullying, drag artist Alexis Stone faked extensive plastic surgery on his face over a period of several months.

The makeup artist, whose real name is Elliot Rentz, is known for his incredible celebrity makeup transformations which he posts to social media. However, a few months ago, he partnered up with David Marti, an Oscar-winning special effects makeup artist, and took on the incredibly feat to pull off a months-long social experiment by convincing his followers he got botched plastic surgery.

He began paving the road as far back as August 2018, and in October, he shared “post-op” pictures, where he was in fact only wearing the mask Marti made for him. Stone posted a documentary-style video to Facebook on January 1, where he explained that he decided to collaborate with Marti after the myriad of negative comments he received when he got only one plastic surgery.

In the video, he says: “The last year-and-half since when I started having Botox or filler, I have every day been called botched. I’ve been called a monster. I’ve accused of being addicted to plastic surgery. When the reality is I have only had one surgery.” He added that he believes people have a “stigma” behind plastic surgery and think you should only get it if other people think you need it.

Previous to that, he had shared another video on New Year’s Eve where he is seen ripping off his mask.

Speaking to Paper Magazine, Stone explained that after being called a “botch monster” after only getting his nose and cheeks done, he “took things that were already there and I ran with it. I said, fuck it, let me take this rumor, this accusation, this comment, and let me give you what you want.”

Showing just how cruel and judgmental people online can be, Stone also shared a collage of some of the negative comments he has gotten the past few months. One of the comments read “You have ruined your life and there’s no going back,” while another just stated, “Your face is fuuuucked.”

On top of the negative online comments, Stone revealed to Paper that even his ex-boyfriends contacted him to tell him “how embarrassed they are that they’ve dated me.”

Stone left the house wearing his prosthetic every day, and only five people knew the truth.

His fans were impressed with his experiment, as are we all, with one of them telling him: “Your work has inspired so many, and you really had everyone fooled. Every day I felt so bad at all of the comments you had to read, and I wondered how in the hell you were strong enough to deal with it! You’re a genius. Take care of yourself.”

On the video he shared, he explains that he considers this experiment to be his “modern-day drag performance, adding, “Whether you want to call it drag or whatever you want to call it. This is my art.”
