Ashley Graham Asked Jason Momoa To Do The ‘Haka’ Dance At The Oscars And People Thought It Was Awkward

2019 Oscars had a lot to offer. From Lady Gaga and Bradley Cooper’s “Shallow” performance to Spike Lee’s tantrum over “Green Book” win, the ceremony was definitely worth watching. The red carpet alone was worth watching. With all the glitz and glamour, it’s safe to say the red carpet was the real event that night.

But it’s not just the fashion we’re interested in on the red carpet. We also love seeing couples arrive together, supporting each other, and one particular couple we were swooning over on Sunday night was Jason Momoa and Lisa Bonet.

The couple showed up in matching baby pink color, head-to-toe Fendi in honor of the late Karl Lagerfeld who passed away last week. Both were looking stunningly gorgeous. But it was Ashley Graham who kinda ‘ruined’ their mood when she asked the Aquaman to do the Haka on the red carpet.

Haka is a traditional Māori dance which the actor actually performed at the “Aquaman” premiere to celebrate the New Zealand culture included in the movie. And well, people thought Ashley’s request was quite awkward.

Although you can’t hear anything from the clip, it looks like Lisa is saying something to Graham, clearly annoyed at the request that her husband perform a culturally significant dance just out of curiosity.

And of course, people took to social media to share their reactions and describing the request as offensive to anyone for whom the dance has an important meaning.

Most probably, Graham didn’t even consider her request would be offensive to anyone and just wanted to learn something new. What are your thoughts on this?
