Billy Porter showed up at the Oscars…in a gown. Yup, you read that right.
The actor who is best known for his role as Pray Tell in the FX series, Pose, left everyone speechless when he arrived at the red carpet in Hollywood wearing a Christian Siriano tuxedo-gown (because just a tux is too mainstream). And boy, did he rock it!
The 49-year-old singer and actor looked amazing in a classic tuxedo top and ballgown bottom which also featured ruffled sleeves and a long train. The head-to-toe velvet outfit was topped off with a classic bow tie, also velvet.
Watch the video below.
Christian Siriano’s official Twitter account shared the look, honored to have created this masterpiece.
He really came to serve!
Porter attended the Oscars as part of the red carpet fashion team for ABC last night and interviewed many celebrities on the red carpet. But the best part of the night was when the cameras captured The Best Actress nominee, Glenn Close as she waited for her interview with Porter.
Close was caught staring at the Grammy-winning entertainer and giving a nod of approval, and of course, the moment went viral on the internet.

Get you a lover that looks at you the way Glenn Close looks at Billy Porter.
Porter alone was praised on Twitter for his choice of outfit at the Oscars.
Billy Porter won. Everyone go home. Return your gowns and tuxes. GO HOME.
Another person admired him for breaking out the traditional male red carpet rules, saying:
Billy Porter single-handedly breaking through the snoozefest that is male fashion on red carpets. Who’s doing it like him?
Can’t wait to see him and his gowns on the red carpet again!
