Our best friend’s wedding is an important event we all dream of attending. That day is special to them and to us, as well. I still remember the day when my bestie got married. Thanks Godness I previously arranged things so I could work in the morning shift and then I made it to her wedding. Although a bit late, I still went and had lots of fun.
Unfortunately, not everyone is lucky as I am when it comes to this matter. There were many cases when because of school, work or even health issues, people failed to attend such important weddings. So was the case of Amberlee Hatcher, a James Cook University student, who because of her exams could not go to her friend’s wedding.
Hatcher was chosen a bridesmaid for Ellie Wellington, Hatcher’s cousin and best friend. Instead, Hatcher decided to show up in her bridesmaid outfit on her exam.
Her friend’s gift to her bridesmaids, including Hatcher.
Hatcher had already missed her best friend’s engagement party, and when she found out that exams are conflicting with the wedding too, she was sad and simply could not accept the fact. She had hoped the exam would be postponed but the lecturer changed their mind the last minute.
Having prepared everything for the special day, Hatcher went to get herself ready. She wore her makeup, wore the dress, high heels and attended the exam just like that. No doubt everyone was surprised when they saw her with the elegant outfit, but of course, having understood the reason, people sympathized with her.
She even brought her bridesmaid’s glass to the class.
Thanks to FaceTime, she saw her friend walking down the aisle as she was saying “I do.”
The moment she congratulated the couple via FaceTime.
Another bridesmaid held the phone close to the microphone, and Hatcher received a speech.
By the end of the night, Hatcher knew that this wasn’t how she imagined her friend’s wedding to be, but at least she was glad to be there for her, in one way or the other.
