You may have missed it lately, but after Britney Spears recently admitted herself into a mental health facility, all sorts of rumors started popping up, suggesting she was being held there against her will and that her father checked her in because he’s had conservatorship over personal life ever since 2008, when she was unstable to make decisions for herself.
So, her fans were convinced that was the case, and soon enough, #FreeBrittneySpears started trending on social media, which then apparently led to death threats being sent to her family. The star’s fans even gathered outside West Hollywood City Hall in LA and demanded that she be released.
So, the woman in question herself has decided to step up and clear things out in order to end the rumors.
On Tuesday, she shared a video to Instagram reassuring her fans that she is okay and is willingly continuing treatment.
“Hi guys, just checking in with all of you who are concerned about me,” she said on the video. “All is well. My family has been going through a lot of stress and anxiety lately, so I just needed time to deal. Don’t worry I’ll be back very soon.”
She further detailed the situation in the post’s caption, writing: “Wow!!! There’s rumors, death threats to my family and my team, and just so many things — crazy things being said. I am trying to take a moment for myself, but everything that’s happening is just making it harder for me.”
“Don’t believe everything you read and hear,” she added.

The “Piece Of Me” singer then accused her former manager, Sam Lutfi, for having sent “fake emails” to her team and pretending to be her. “My situation is unique, but I promise I’m doing what’s best at this moment,” she wrote. “You may not know this about me, but I am strong, and stand up for what I want!”
So, the situation may be strange, but not completely crazy as a mega-popular star being held in a mental institution against her will.
Her boyfriend, Sam Asghari, 25, also talked about the situation recently. “She’s doing great,”, he told TMZ on Tuesday. “Thank you for your concern.”
Britney’s sister Jamie Lynn Spears also opened up about the situation, even indirectly addressing the rumors she was being involuntarily hospitalized, on the caption of a throwback Instagram post.
The 28-year-old wrote: “10 years ago, who was there?? I have been here long before anyone else, and I’ll be here long after. I love my sister with everything I have. So, anyone or anything that speaks to the contrary can GTFOH with all the comments about what you don’t understand.”

Sources close to the singer have talked to media outlets prior to her speaking out, telling People magazine, “She recognized she needed to focus on her own health and sought treatment. No one forced her to go.”
Britney and her father’s relationship seems very close, and the pop star even announced in January that she was taking a break from work in order to support him after he became ill and was hospitalized.
She told People at the time that she and her father “have a very special relationship and I want to be with my family at this time just like they have always been there for me.”
So, hopefully, this will out her fans’ minds at ease and Britney will be able to recover in peace.
