Have you ever seen a baby dragon? They’re just so cute and adorable, but also fierce trying to burn everything with their little puffs of fire.
And on the cuteness level, we have to say we agree that Riverdale star, Camilla Mendes undoubtedly matches baby dragons to a T. However, according to her new beau, co-star Charles Melton, she also matches them on their fierceness.
We’re taking his nickname for the actress as an indication, of course.
During the red carpet event for E!’s People’s Choice Awards, Melton surprised Mendes with a sweet video where he was asking her a “fan” question. The actor told the interviewer to ask Camilla who “baby dragon” is.
“I’m baby dragon!” Camila explained. And now, she has elaborated more on the reason behind the nickname during an appearance on Monday’s Busy Tonight with Busy Philipps.
When Philipps asked her, “Is [the reason for the nickname] because you’re sweet and also fierce?” Camilla said:
I can be quite…I guess just ferocious is the only word, but it’s like a cute type of ferocious. I’m Brazilian—we’re like passionate, so sometimes a little baby dragon comes out.
The two Riverdale co-stars finally confirmed their relationship after months of speculations from fans when the 24-year-old actress posted an adorable snap of the two on her Instagram account (below).
She also explained how she tries to keep her relationship as private as possible as she can, but says it’s sometimes hard because she wants to be “pretty normal and conversational” and she instinctively wants to tell people all about her boyfriend (don’t we all Cami?). But, she added, “the famous side of me is like, ‘Don’t do that. Maybe don’t talk about it as much or don’t open that door as much,’ because at the end of the day it is a private thing.”
She was previously involved in a relationship with a friend from high school, Victor Houston, but the pair called it quits in August after Camilla “realized she wasn’t ready to be in this relationship anymore,” as a source told E! News.
