Cardi B released a new music video called “Twerk” last Wednesday, and now is defending herself after Stephanie Hamill called her out about twerking in the #MeToo era. The video shows Cardi – at one point in only body paint – any many other women twerking, as the title itself suggests.
The video, which now has over 22.8 million views, has left the 32-year-old outraged, accusing the rapper of not empowering women. On Monday, Hamill took to Twitter and wrote:
In the Era of #metoo how exactly does this [Twerk video] empower women?
But Cardi was quick to respond to the Donald Trump supporter.
It says to women that I can wear and not wear what ever I want. do w.e I want and that NO still means NO
So Stephanie chime in..If I twerk and be half naked does that mean I deserve to get raped and molested?
Don’t come for Cardi…
Cardi, real name Belcalis Almánzar, pointed out to Stephanie that a woman must verbally consent to any kind of sexual interaction, regardless of their choice of outfit.
Hamill this time agreed with the rapper, adding that “NO means NO, NO MATTER what,” however, she still thinks the video objectifies women. She even invited Cardi to her Fox WTTG-TV talk show, Like It Or Not, for a debate.
The 26-year-old rapper did not respond to the invitation but went on ranting about conservatives ‘harassing’ her over the last couple of days.
Listen I’m not telling ya to turn liberal.
All I’m saying is to admit that your president is f***in up this country right now! Liberal or conservative we ALL suffer as citizens
Fox Nation host, Tomi Lahren, joined their feud, more specifically, baited the rapper over Trump’s government shut down, and sarcastically called Cardi a “genius political mind.”
Cardi’s reply was calling her a ‘sheep,’ adding she’s blinded by racism.
On another note, the “Money” hitmaker took to Instastory on Tuesday, saying she ‘wanna go home’ to her estranged husband and their daughter, Kulture. The couple broke up last December just three months after their wedding.
When it comes to her career, the rapper was spotted on the set of a mystery project directed by Flo Dechard and shot by cinematographer Josep Labisi.
The 26-year-old, together with Migos, will headline the Bud Light Super Bowl LIIL Music Fest in Atlanta, on February 2.
Cardi is also nominated in five categories, including the record of the year, at the Grammy Awards which is set to air on February 10 on CBS.
