Do we have any chocolate fans out here? Here is some bad yet somehow good news. What would you think of a pavement entirely flooded by chocolate? Walking on chocolate? Yum! Well, this is not too far-fetched.
Here is everyone’s dream coming true. A literal river of chocolate. A tonne of chocolate flowed out of the chocolate factory in Westönnen, Germany. If anyone is having Charlie and the Chocolate Factory flashbacks, I am right there with you, peeps, so no worries. We are in this together. No need for the rare and radiant golden ticket. The pavements in Westönnen are flooded in chocolate.
As the German newspaper, Soester Anzeiger reported, a ‘small technical defect’ in the DreiMeister factory is what caused the chocolate flooding, causing the tank that was filled with chocolate to empty.
See, the chocolate spilled from the tank was melted but after it came in contact with the cold pavement, it hardened in no time. When the Willy Wonka illusion was ruined, it took 25 firefighters equipped with shovels, torches and hot water to be able to remove it from the pavements. Of course, after the chocolate hardened it was quite difficult to remove it.
But luckily, this incident happened three weeks before Christmas, otherwise, as stated by the company boss, Markus Luckey for the Anzeiger, if it were closer to Christmas, ‘that would have been a catastrophe’. The company wouldn’t have been able to get back on its feet before the jolliest holiday.
I feel a little guilty for thinking that these pictures look a little aesthetically pleasing. Of course, as a chocolate lover, my heart hurt when I first saw all that spilled chocolate, but still…
