Could you actually imagine Cillian Murphy being the next 007? I sure can!
Although Daniel Craig has not finished with James Bond yet, he will be giving up his suit and spy gear after the next Bond film. I mean, bookies are confident Murphy could be the next Bond.
Apart from Cillian Murphy, there has also been a lot of speculation when it comes to who will get on the role, including Luther star Idris Elba, or even Michael Fassbender.
As Unilad reports, according to betting companies, it is Cillian Murphy who can actually be the next Bond. However, the favorites at Betway are Bodyguard’s Richard Madden and The Avengers star Tom Hiddleston at 2/1. The bookmakers, however, slashed Cillian Murphy’s odds from 7/1 to 100/30.
However, Betway’s Alan Alger said that the odds could be lower, according to The Irish Post. He said:
Cillian Murphy is the latest name to be linked with the next James Bond role and with the new season of Peaky Blinders just around the corner, it wouldn’t be a surprise to see his current 100/30 shorten even more.
He proceeded to admit how his odds have been halved recently after he stood a 7/1 shot:
He’s stood as a quietly fancied 7/1 shot over the past few months but his odds have more than halved this morning and is now no bigger than 100/30. Only current market leaders Richard Madden and Tom Hiddleston, both 2/1, are higher up the pecking order.
Murphy would be the second Irishman to play Bond, after Pierce Brosnan, in case he lands the role. He has shown he is quite Bond-like in his role as Tommy Shelby in Peaky Blinders, with his both charming and violent traits.
However, the release of Bond 25 has still over a year to go, so we’ll wait and see!
