Here’s How To Make Your Own Coconut Oil And Baking Soda Facial Scrub

Nowadays we are literally drowned in all kinds of beauty and skin care products. But the question is, can we make our own?

Let’s be honest, 90% of any product’s power is basically its advertisement. Each brand constantly brags that their product will make your skin “rejuvenate”, or that it will turn you into a “natural beauty”, make you have “flawless skin” or just make all your acne go away.

Examining the list of ingredients by these big-brand products can be really nerve-wracking. Codes, words that probably half chemists don’t know themselves, a bunch of numbers…

The ordinary person can hardly make sense of what they’re putting on, or even in, their body.

By this point, it is already common knowledge that many of these products aren’t even properly tested.

“There are industry trade secrets and formulations that for industry reasons are kept from the consumer,” says Elizabeth Sword, the exec of the Children’s Health Environmental Coalition. “This prevents the consumer from making fully informed decisions,” she adds.

So, an easy way to deal with this? Make your own!

Thanks to The Hearty Soul, we have two homemade recommendations.

The Homemade Coconut Oil Facial Moisturizer

Why coconut oil? Well, because it has moisturizing properties and antimicrobial abilities that, in tandem, are perfect for cleaning your face. The bacteria that create the pimples will have no chance, and the coconut oil will then moisturize your skin and help it rejuvenate. Coconut oil has anti-inflammatory properties too, which makes it helpful in the alleviation of psoriasis, eczema and other skin conditions.

Homemade Baking Soda Facial Cleanser

Baking soda is perfect for removing even the most persistent of blackheads, while also making your skin feel very soft after use. It’s very cheap to buy and easy to make, and your skin will thank you. Additionally, this recipe is also good for treating sunburn.

Ingredients:

  1. 1/2 cup coconut oil
  2. 1/2 cup baking soda
