This Couple Divorced Only Three Minutes After Being Declared Husband And Wife

No one enters into a marriage expecting it to fail and end in divorce. Still, according to 2006-2010 data from the government’s National Survey of Family Growth, over 20% of first marriages end in divorce within 5 years, and 48% of marriages dissolve by the 20-year mark.

However, there are also couples whose marriage doesn’t reach the 5 or 20-year lifespan. For more, there are cases when a couple’s marriage lasts up to three minutes only. That’s exactly the couple you are about to read. Their marriage is being considered the shortest marriage ever in the history of Kuwait.

No, they did not find out the other cheated on them – it was simply a word the groom uttered which made his wife dissolve their marriage.

According to Q8 News, it all happened after the couple signed their marriage contract in front of a judge. The bride accidentally tripped on her way out, and her husband called her nothing more, nothing less than ‘stupid’. That’s not quite the right word you should ever use on anyone, especially if it happens to be your wife and you have just been declared husband and wife.

After being mocked, the bride reportedly raged at her husband’s word choice and before leaving the courthouse they got married in, she immediately demanded the judge to dissolve their marriage. There it goes the quote, “It ended before it even began.”

The whole incident of the Kuwaiti couple provoked a wave of sympathy for the now-divorced woman on social media, with netizens supporting her decision to end the marriage, given the circumstances.

One Twitter user even said:

If this is how he acts right at the beginning, it’s better to leave him.

While another one commented:

A marriage with no respect, is a failed one right from the beginning.

Three minutes are definitely not enough to know someone’s self-version after marriage, but sometimes, it takes one second, one sole word to visualize your life with someone, and that’s more than enough.
