This Dad Shows What Parenting Is Really Like Through His Creative Instagram Posts

Simon Hooper is a dad from London, who has been ‘outnumbered’ by all the women he has in his family. More specifically, he is a proud father of four daughters.

He and his wife, Clementine, share four daughters together, so he has decided to document his journey and everyday parenting with the followers he has on his Instagram account (father_of_daughters).

He takes to his Instagram profile quite often to do just that – document his life alongside his nearest and dearest.

He has garnered a lot of followers who truly enjoy seeing his day-to-day adventures. Specifically, he has a number of 913k followers, and each of them seems to be thrilled to be following him. Bedtime routines or crazy birthday parties are only some of the things he shares online for other fellow parents to see and enjoy.

One of his posts includes a trip to the grocery store. But it’s not only the picture that got all of the attention. He also shared a lengthy caption alongside the picture in which he wrote:

I basically live in this aisle of the supermarket now. New parents seem to gravitate to me as an “experienced parent” (i.e. the tired looking guy shivering in the corner) and ask “do you know where so and so is please?”

He proceeded the caption with:

My response ― ‘Sure 3rd shelf, half way down on the left hand side, buy 3 & get a discount, although you want to use that in combination with blah blah blah,’” he added. “I’m like a walking encyclopaedia of baby product info. I used to use my brain to solve global corporate wide problems. I now use it to calculate bulk buy discounts.

He also spoke to The Huffington Post about the situation, while admitting that as a dad he is also “a handyman, taxi driver, swimming instructor, tutor, chef, counsellor, human climbing frame, bank, personal shopper and PA.”

Hooper, an operations director for a U.S based management consultancy film, told the HuffPost that his account is to ‘show a realistic view of what parenting is like’. He said:

There is way too much sugarcoating when it comes to parents, so I wanted to share what it’s really like and provide a bit of humor at the same time.

Talking about doing the voices while reading to the kids, he writes: “But what if you didn’t do them? [the voices] They may lose interest and decide books are boring.”

“The wonders of modern technology. Why, oh why did I give my eldest an iPod touch? Yes, its great to stay in contact while I’m away but my inbox is now full of emoji based spam from my bored daughter,” he wrote in this one.
