You have most probably heard about “Dawson’s Creed”, a TV show that ran from 1998 to 2003. James Van Der Beek, Katie Holmes, Joshua Jackson, Michelle Williams and many other starred in the American teen drama television series.
And for the fans of Jen Lindley, played by actress Michelle Williams, this article is for you. And for Jen, who never got the treatment she deserved. The series couldn’t have finished in a more heartbreaking way! But let’s not get all emotional (yet).
True that, Jen!
After Jen was sent in Capeside to live with her grams, she became the most hateful character of the series (so unfair), since she was introduced as Joey’s enemy, fighting for Dawson’s love.
And how could they even hate her?! The kind-hearted Jen, always being a friend to Joey, when all Joey did was bully her.
And let’s not forget how difficult was Grams to deal with in the beginning. Definitely not the kindest. Their relationship was complicated, but Jen helped her grow into a better person as she did with everyone around her. She was always taking care of others and was the best friend a person could ever ask for.
Her conservative Christian grandmother (Grams), that later became more open-minded (all because of Jen).
Couldn’t agree more, Jen!
What made her even more unique, was owning her sexuality in her teenage years, which isn’t something you see often. But the show constantly punished her for this. Life’s not fair (especially for Jen)! She was slut-shamed because of her past, by both the characters and fans of the show.
How it must’ve hurt saying this 😔
The love triangle is what ruined Jen’s character. It was like they didn’t know what to do with her character anymore and never actually got a decent love interest.
Her relationship with Jack was the best thing in the show. Jack and Jen become best friends after she spends her summer living with Grams.
Their friendship was far more interesting and platonic than that of Dawson and Joey. Unfortunately, they never got too much screentime.
And then came the devastating finale when the show creator decided to kill Jen off (still hurts). Kevin Williamson left the show after season 2, only to come back for the finale and kill Jen’s character.
The “final coming-of-age”, is what Williamson thought of her death, but that’s just another excuse after ruining her life.
As if Jen didn’t suffer enough as a single mother, after her death she left her little girl behind.
Luckily, Jack adopts Amy, but that does not ease the pain of Jen’s death.
Time does not heal all wounds!
Oh God, this is so lovely and painful at the same time!
Same Dawson, same!
