Dog Abandoned By His Family And Living In Parking Lot Finally Found A New Home

Pets often times become like a member of one’s family. People love them and treat them with care as if the little furry friend was indeed one of them. The thought of losing them for whatever reason probably sounds heartbreaking to any pet owner. As a matter of fact, psychologists actually say the grief people feel when they lose a pet is almost identical to when they lose an actual human member of their family. So, it’s probably inconceivable to most to purposefully leave their pet behind.

Like one family from California did to their eight-year-old Labrador. The dog, whose name is Larry, was abandoned by his family and so he began to live across the street from his home in the parking lot of a landscaping business, according to the Dodo. He survived by the scraps that the truck drivers passing by would throw at him. But when one driver, in particular, saw him, Larry touched her heart so much that she decided to set him up an Instagram account to try and get him a home.

The account brought Larry to the attention of a rescue group called Love Leo Rescue based in LA, who took him in and have been trying to get him a “forever home”.

They shared a photo of Larry to their Instagram, writing:

All we want for him is a forever home. Isn’t there someone, somewhere out there that wants to give this beautiful, #goldenlab his fairytale ending? He is eight-years old and has been diagnosed with Cushing’s disease which is manageable through daily medication. His can get a little stiff he’s a little slow. He prefers sleeping outside in the garden versus being confined to a crate. He would do well with another old dog that stays out of his business.

Cushing’s disease is a condition caused by a benign tumor on the pituitary gland and leads to abdominal swelling, frequent urination, hair loss, weight gain, and excess thirst. But the condition is manageable through medication which he needs to take for the rest of his life.

Love Leo Rescue explained that when they first rescued him, he wouldn’t react to other dogs and even growl when they approached him. But now that he’s gotten better, they explain Larry has become a social butterfly.”

“We are super happy to report that he is having the time of his life in doggy daycare,” they added. “To date, Larry has been kicked out of 3 foster homes (due to separation anxiety) and had 2 adopters bail on him. He deserves better than that.”

“He’s a kind and gentle dog who really deserves a forever home to call his own,” the rescue group wrote. “Please consider adding him to your family. He has been through so much and wants to spend his golden years being loved and adored.”

And what do you know, Larry finally did get a “forever home”, Love Leo Rescue shared on Instagram, adding: “On this cold and rainy day, Larry is curled up in a soft bed and surrounded by people who love him.”
