Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson’s Daughter Is Training To Become A Wrestler

It’s not uncommon for kids to follow in their parents’ footsteps when it comes to their careers, not even when it comes to wrestling, it seems.

World-famous actor, Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson, got his start as a wrestler, quickly becoming a WWE legend. Now, it appears that his daughter, 17-year-old daughter, Simone Garcia Johnson, is set to follow in the same path.

According to the Mirror, Simone has started training to become a wrestler at the WWE Performance Center. Zelina Vega, an American professional wrestler, spoke recently in a podcast with the ex-WWE announcer, Lilian Garcia, and revealed that she and Simone have become close and are training together at the Florida-based center.

We’ve already established that The Rock is both an amazing father and overall person, so it’s not surprising that he is nothing but supportive of Simone’s decision. During an interview on  ABC’s Good Morning America, he seemed visibly proud of his daughter, saying:

Simone is working so hard, and her work has already started. She wants to be a WWE wrestler. I love that idea and I think … We had this big conversation. She came with me to Hong Kong and Beijing and I said, ‘Honey, whatever your passion is, I support that.’

You can watch the whole interview here:

But while Simone has been training for the past few months, and wants to give wrestling a try, according to Pro Wrestling Sheet she still in school as she is only training part-time and doesn’t have any competitions scheduled yet.

Simone did tell The Hollywood Reporter in an interview, however, that wrestling is something she wants to pursue.

It’s a sport that is unlike anything else in the world. There’s just a certain amount of passion that every move and match requires, and that’s so admirable. It’s definitely something I’ve thought about and want to pursue.

If Simone were to proceed with a career in wrestling, she would become the fourth generation in her family to do so, with her great-grandfather Peter Maivia having started it, to be continued by grandfather Rocky Johnson, and then her father Dwayne Johnson. So, really, she’s bound to be great!
