Although TV reality shows give us the feeling of a hard to believe territory, It seems that there will always be people who like to appear in such TV shows. Sometimes, Is it also on the merits of TV producers to choose these perfectly designed participants.
First Dates, a show that tends to match people in couples, manages to present us with some memorable characters, all of them in search of the soulmate. While this show at times is heartwarming, there are times that is awkward and makes you scream into the cushions of your sofa.
Thanks to the comments of 27-year-old First Date-r Ruth this week’s episode has caused a stir among viewers:
Being previously matched by show experts the purpose of the programme is to set up two people in a blind date. There are cases that the match works, and sometimes not that much.
Previous before the couple take the date to the restaurant for food and drink, we can have some helpful character reveal of the participants taking individually to the camera. By this, they tell more about themselves and the characteristics they find matchy in a person.
Ruth told the cameras:
“I relate more to black culture than I do to my own culture.
I think I’ve got born-in-the-wrong-race syndrome, where I am white but I feel more black inside, probably”.
Ruth, a trainee accountant and carnival dancer from Scotland, also showed off the result of her Brazilian bum lift to bemused host Fred Sirieix claimed that she was single due to her preference in black guys and the ‘lack’ of them in her town.
Inevitably, the Twitter floodgates opened.
#FirstDates she just said that she was born into the wrong race and that she’s more of a black girl. Does she know how problematic that statement is?

While Radio 1 DJ Clara Amfo said:
What in the Dolezal?? I love this show but some of the things that get through the edit blow my mind…

Amfo wasn’t alone in bringing up Rachel Dolezal, the former leader of the NAACP who falsely portrayed herself as African American, and allegedly lied about hate crimes committed against her.

Earlier in the programme, Ruth revealed that she’s had a bum lift, and explained how she idolizes Kim Kardashian.
She said: My dream girl is Kim Kardashian, I just love her, I think she is a goddess. Even though she is talentless, visually she is perfection to me.
I just love having a big bum. I feel more curvaceous and more confident and, yeah, I just love it.
Still, Ruth accused her date Michael, 23 to be creepy when he asked to see her surgically-enhanced bum.
I want people to recognize that I have a good mind, that I have a lot more to me than just an ass, but that’s all they see now.
Anyway, Michael and Ruth were seen dancing together at the end of the show. And went on meeting for a second date.
Apparently, she must have done something good!
