You know the world is a very twisted place when a former president, who spent the best part of a decade help fight wars, is now in the spotlight for sneaking sweets to a former first lady at a funeral.
You can never know, right?
In the footage below, the former President of the United States, George W. Bush is seen handing candy to the former first lady, Michelle Obama, see it for yourself:
John McCain, the Republican senator, who ran against Barack Obama in 2008’s presidential race, but unfortunately lost, died last week. The late war hero is being held in quite a high regard in American politics, given that the current President is coming under a lot of scrutinies for alleged Russian collusion, financial misconduct, and further sexual misconduct among others.
Just like Bush, who during his time in office led his nation into a war against a country that wasn’t responsible for terrorist attacks and spent decades evading claims while he was in service during Vietnam War. Now he is hailed as a bastion of proper behavior.
So you can imagine while people on social media went into a complete meltdown when the 43rd President of the United States pulled off sweets at John McCain’s funeral.
The affection I feel for George Bush is something I would have never expected to feel.

George Bush has always spoke of his love for and true friendship with Michelle Obama. I’m glad someone captured this sweet moment between the two friends at John McCain’s memorial service, as #GeorgeWBush passes a piece of candy to #MichelleObama 💖 https://t.co/HwT1YeOaod

George Bush slipping candy to Michelle Obama is a sweet & hard metaphor for all we have lost in politics. https://t.co/KTvTBhgkvg

The camera just cut away from Joe Lieberman’s joke about John McCain to Laura Bush just passing a hard church candy to Michelle Obama thru George Bush and it might be the most amazing thing I’ve ever seen. #NationalCathedral

On Friday, August 24th, it was revealed that John McCain did not continue his treatment of brain cancer. Just the next day his death was announced.

The statement that was released by McCain’s office to confirm his death, read as follows:
“Senator John Sidney McCain III died at 4:28 p.m. on August 25, 2018. With the Senator when he passed were his wife Cindy and their family. At his death, he had served the United States of America faithfully for sixty years.”
Probably everyone best remembers McCain as the Republican presidential nominee in the 2008 presidential election. He was also known for his time spent in a POW camp while in Vietnam.
His plane was shut down and he was captured by North Vietnamese troops where he was tortured for more than five years. Later, he became a decorated United States war hero.
In 2008 he won the Republican nomination for the presidency with an interesting choice of running mate, Sarah Palin.
He lost the election to Democrat Barack Obama and choosing Sarah Palin as a running mate is now being seen as a door-opened to far-right isolationist policies that the current President has won favor with.
