“How dare you? You have stolen my dreams and my childhood!” Does this sentence ring a bell to you? As you might guess, this is what Greta Thunberg said to the world leaders during a UN summit held in late September.
From protests in front of Sweeden’s parliament to school strikes and TED Talks, the 16-year-old activist has become an environmental icon for so many people. The teen is loud on her plight against global warming and she might soon win a Nobel accolade for that, UNILAD reports.
According to Oddschecker, the possibilities for Thunberg to win a Nobel Peace Prize are very favorable. See the betting odds below:
Thunberg began her climate mission in October 2018. Back then she stated that she wouldn’t attend school on Fridays until the government would take action on the growing climate and the ecological crisis.
Her plight ignited a worldwide movement as thousands of students around the globe marched for climate change. Moreover, the powerful words of this teenager turned out 133 countries at climate change events.
Her thunderous speech at a United Nations Climate Summit in late September made headlines as she called on world leaders to tackle the emergent crisis. See some of her words below:
People are suffering, people are dying, entire ecosystems are collapsing. We are in the beginning of a mass extinction and all you can talk about is money and fairytales of eternal economic growth.
Thunberg’s speech was viewed millions of times online as she blamed delegates for betraying her generation. Moreover, she highlighted that “people are dying and dying and ecosystems are collapsing”. She continued:
We are in the beginning of a mass extinction, and all you can talk about is the money and fairy tales of eternal economic growth. How dare you. For more than 30 years the science has been crystal clear. How dare you continue to look away and come here saying that you’re doing enough when the politics and solutions needed are still nowhere in sight.
Besides the speech, cameras witnessed a very perfect moment when Greta was side-eyeing the US President, Donald Trump.

The young activist has motivated many people around the world to take action on climate change. However, looks like President Trump isn’t a fan of Thunberg and even mocked her on a tweet, writing: ‘She seems like a very happy young girl looking forward to a bright and wonderful future. So nice to see!’
The English broadcaster and journalist Jeremy Clarkson also took his time to slam Thunberg on a column for The Sun. He even called her “spoilt brat”:
How dare you sail to America on a carbon fibre yacht that you didn’t build which cost £15 million, that you didn’t earn, and which has a back-up diesel engine that you didn’t mention. We gave you mobile phones and laptops and the internet. We created the social media you use every day and we run the banks that pay for it all. So how dare you stand there and lecture us, you spoilt brat.
And yet, we’re some of the luckiest ones for being here still, kudos to her massive contribution to peace!
