When you think of Halloween, first things that come to your mind are costume parties, trick-or-treating, and a LOT of candy. But what do we know about the origins of the tradition? I mean, what is Halloween’s story anyway? As it turns out, Halloween is a very old celebration and a little bit spookier than you might think.
While I know that Halloween takes place on October 31, I actually did not know that the word literally means “hallowed evening” which is literally saints evening (hallows = saints) and eventually shortened to “Halloween.”
And this year, once again, we will all be enjoying our favorite treats and admire our neighbor’s decorations. While the explanation behind Halloween’s original meaning is spooky, the only spooky spirits we’ll be seeing this year are the witches and ghosts our friends dress up as.
And of course, eat all the candy. This year, we will be able to buy Sour Patch Kids Candy Corn for Halloween! Yes, you read that right!
Yeah, all candy is good, but what’s Halloween without candy corn? Or any other normal day without our favorite candy that goes from sour to sweet? Now the sour and sweet have collided, creating the most exciting fall-themed food combo since Pumpkin Spice Frosted Flakes.
The popular Instagram account under the name @JunkBanter which reviews all junk food, posted about the amazing collaboration. He revealed in his post that there are only two flavors, orange, and grape. He personally prefers the grape flavor, saying:
“It has a powdery sweetness and tastes like a sour, kickass version of Big League Chew.”
While the orange according to him is “less special but good nonetheless.”
I don’t know about you, but I can’t wait to get my hands into one of these!
