Home Remedies For Acne: What You Can Do To Ease Them

Acne, or as I like to call them, the annoying and uncomfortable bumps that ruin our mood, are one of the most common skin conditions that us people deal with. Anyone who has ever dealt with acne knows how bothersome they are. And you’re probably tired of hearing “Have you tried washing your face?” Yes, I have tried washing my face, thank you very much. Actually, contrary to popular belief, the myth that acne is an outcome of poor hygiene is false. And washing your face too much can also trigger your acne. The real deal is that some people simply have oily skin. That’s the main cause of acne. But let me get into more details.

Acne pops up when your pores get clogged. That happens when oil and dead skin cells get stuck in the pores. See, every pore has its own sebaceous gland with which it is connected, and these glands are responsible for the secretion of sebum, which is an oily substance. In some people, these glands produce more oil which then causes breakouts. The severeness of acne differs from person to person, but they usually manifest themselves in the form of blackheads, whiteheads, and pimples. But the thing is that a lot of people who suffer from persistent acne become quite self-conscious about their appearance. As someone who has had my fair share of dealing with acne, I can assure you that it can take quite a toll on you. It just seems that whenever you’re talking to people, all they do is stare at your acne. Which, by the way, is the ugliest lie that your anxiety tells you.

And on top of everything, acne treatments can be crazy expensive. All the lotions, creams, topical treatments, and in some cases antibiotics, can cost a lot. So, of course, we turn to home remedies that are 1. cheap. 2. natural, and 3. super duper effective. You don’t really have to break the bank to get rid of acne. Keep reading and you’ll know what I am talking about.

Apple Cider Vinegar

You have probably already heard of the ever-rising number of ACV benefits. Its acidity helps fight off bacteria that can potentially cause acne, therefore it is amazing when it comes to clearing up acne. How to use it? Well, worry not, as I have you and I both covered. What you should do is mix one part of apple cider vinegar with three parts of water. If you know that your skin falls in the sensitive category, then add even more water. Clean your face thoroughly and then with the help of a cotton pad apply the mixture to your skin. Leave it on for 20-25 seconds then rinse it off with warm water. Do this twice a day and remember to NEVER apply undiluted apple cider vinegar to your skin as it can lead to irritation and burns.

Honey – Cinnamon Mask

A two-ingredient mask that helps alleviate the acne situation. Both these ingredients are terrific antioxidants and work wonders even on their own. Especially honey. It boosts the immune system, it cleanses the gut and when it comes to skincare, honey is the perfect anti-inflammatory remedy. It also helps reduce acne scars. Whereas cinnamon is also amazing with its hydration properties. All you need to do is mix one tablespoon of cinnamon with two tablespoons of honey and form a paste. Apply it on a freshly washed face and leave it on for 15 to 20 minutes. Then, rinse it off with warm water. Do this every night before bed.

Tea Tree Oil

If you’re someone who researches a lot about skincare, then you probably have heard of the miraculous tea tree oil. This topical treatment fights off bacteria and inflammation, which makes it a perfect remedy for acne and breakouts. See, it is super easy to use it. Dilute one part of tea tree oil with nine parts of water and then with the help of a cotton swab, apply it to the affected part of the skin. If you want, then moisturize the skin afterward. Repeat this process one to two times a day and you’ll see results in no time.

However, it is important to mention that if you see that your acne is persistent, then it would be best to see a dermatologist. You could be suffering from hormonal acne or you might have some sort of infection going on in your stomach. But the most important thing to be is super patient because it is something that takes time and quite a lot of effort.
