Jess Glynne’s Inspirational Performance At The Brit Awards Is Being Praised By Everyone

This year’s Brit Awards was LIT.

The event hosted by Jack Whitehall saw some ‘questionable performances’ as Unilad reports, however, there were also some moments that made it worth watching.

As “The 1975” hit the stage to pick up their British Album of the Year and British Group awards, the band read a few sentences about male misogyny in the music industry written by Laura Snapes. The Guardian’s deputy music editor wrote the article in response to the allegations made against Ryan Adams.

Meanwhile, Beyonce and Jay-Z accepted their International Group award for their APE SH*T video, standing in front of a Meghan Markle portrait which prompted fans to think it was a reference of the press’ treatment of the Duchess. While the couple didn’t give any comment, Beyonce shared the video on Instagram with the caption:

In honor of Black History Month, we bow down to one of our Melanated Monas. Congrats on your pregnancy! We wish you so much joy.

But probably the best moment of the night was Jess Glynne’s inspirational performance. The 29-year-old singer and songwriter hit the stage to perform her “Thursday” single which is a hymn for self-acceptance with a lyrics like “I won’t wear makeup on Thursday / ‘Cause who I am is enough.”

Glynne took the stage with 70 models and influencers in front of ring lights as they removed their makeup in what was hailed a powerful performance.

Such a beautiful performance and one that will be iconic. It’s so special to see performers like you break the stereotypes and make other women feel empowered. Makes me emotional. Gutted you didn’t win tonight, but we all know you’re a star and your future continues to be bright.

It’s safe to say she made quite the impression.

Jess Glynne walked out of the Brits with something much more valuable than an award: everyone’s love and support!
