You have probably already heard of the many benefits of our favorite citrus fruit, lemon. It is our favorite one because its uses are so versatile. Want to add aroma to your drink or food? Add lemon. Do you want to lose weight? Try adding lemon to your morning water. Do you want to get rid of that foul garlic smell of your hands? Again, lemon is your go-to solution.
However, according to experts, lemon juice is not the only thing we benefit from. We should make use of the lemon peel, too. Well, the lemon peel actually contains up to 10 times more vitamins than the fruit inside. And that is not all.
The lemon peel also contains minerals such as calcium, potassium as well as magnesium. Moreover, they have rare components that are extremely helpful when it comes to a healthy skin. These compounds can also prevent the development of skin and colon cancer, as well as cancer cells in general.
One other benefit of lemon peels is that it can help reduce joint pain as well as reduce the risk of osteoporosis. How? Well, lemon peels are high in vitamin C and flavonoids. These two together help remove the amount of excess cholesterol that is in our arteries, thus effectively preventing atherosclerosis.
Joint pain is a condition that most of us suffer from at some point in our lives. Whether it is mild or severe, it can be extremely difficult to deal with. Joint pain usually comes with aging, however, even malnutrition can affect the tendons, ligaments, and joints, thus causing pain. There are two ways to make use of the lemon peel for pain-free joints.
The first method is a simple one. All you need to do is grind the peel of one or two lemons. Then apply the power directly onto the painful joint and leave it on for a couple of hours. After some time has elapsed, you will feel the relief.
The second one requires more effort. You need olive oil, eucalyptus leaves, and two lemons. First of all, what you’re going to do is peel the lemon and put the peels in a jar, preferably glass. Now, pour some olive oil until the lemon peels are completely covered and then proceed by adding a few eucalypti leaves, too. Now, close the jar shut and store it in someplace cool and dark for two weeks. After two weeks have elapsed, take a cloth and soak it in the mixture. Then, apply it to your painful knee for relief.
Using either of these will result in less or no joint pain. However, please bear in mind that if the pain persists, you need to see a doctor and then they will guide you towards any direction that they deem necessary.
