Justin Timberlake Slammed For Hypocrisy Over Instagram Caption

The 75th Golden Globe Awards were a real thing this year. This time, the attention wasn’t just on the awards and all the dresses and makeup. The ‘Time’s Up’ movement saw many actors and actresses showing solidarity with the victims of sexual harassment in Hollywood. These Golden Globes were marked by symbolic black overtones, with many celebrities wearing black to support the movement. These included Natalie Portman, Angelina Jolie, Meryl Strip, as well as Justin Timberlake and Jessica Alba. However, the 36-year-old pop singer star was slammed for hypocrisy as he was wearing black although he has been working with Woody Allen who has faced sexual abuse allegations in the past.

Justin posted on Instagram to show off his and his wife Jessica Biel’s outfits.

Posting a selfie with The Illusionist actress, the singer sported a black outfit, obviously supporting the ‘Time’s Up’ movement.

He wrote:

“Here we come!! And DAMN, my wife is hot! #TIMESUP #whywewearblack”

However, fans were fast to slam him and call him a hypocrite. One person tweeted:

“You’re literally in the new Woody Allen movie, you can’t work with abusers and condemn them at the same time!!! it doesn’t work that way!!! sorry sweaty 🙂 [sic]”

Another person added:

“You starred in Woody Allen’s new movie. You built a career on malicious misogyny towards Britney Spears. You left Janet Jackson out to dry. This is pure performative fraud.”

Timberlake stars in Allen’s Wonder Wheel, along with Kate Winslet, who’s also been criticised for standing with the Brooklyn-born director.

According to Metro, Justin has previously spoken with enthusiasm about his new project with the 82-year-old Allen:

“It felt like classic Hollywood. They would send the script to an actor and go, ‘We really want you for the part. Will you accept the part?’ I was like, I think he’s forgetting that he’s Woody Allen and that I’d love to work with him, honestly. So yeah, I read the script and didn’t even make a joke to play coy. I said, ‘Yeah, I’m in’.”

Wonder Wheel, a period drama set in 1950s Coney Island premiered at the 55th New York Film Festival in October and was released on December the 1st.

Here‘s what Justin has to say about his successful marriage.
