Kristy Ardo, The Trainer Behind ‘Baby Fit Gym’ Reveals Her Fitness Experience And Advice

Taking care of one’s health is truly essential. Both physical and mental health. Not coincidentally, they say, a healthy mind in a healthy body. That’s because ever since the beginning of times, mental health has been linked to physical health; meaning, physical exercise, in one way or another, helps not only our physical health but also our mental well-being. Which is extremely important to be emphasized.

That’s why many people nowadays commit to fitness and workout sessions. That is to say, there’s a large number of people who understand the importance of physical exercise. Exercise is said to help in boosting brainpower, and physical movement is said to reduce stress levels. Fitness gives one energy and it also helps ward off disease. Not to forget, it also pumps your heart, making the heart and cardiovascular system work more efficiently.

We spoke to the personal trainer from Arizona, Kristy Ardo, who agreed to give us an EXCLUSIVE interview and let us into the routine of her workout regimen. And what she does is pretty inspirational, to say the least. The 27-year-old mother of three runs the page Baby Fit Gym in which she ‘tailors workouts’ that can be done in the comfort of your home.

What was so captivating about her is that in the workout videos she shares, she includes her three children, Tucker, Tate, and Quinn. So, not only is she truly experienced and good at what she does, but she has also found a way to be there for her children and do what she loves, while at the same time creating an unbreakable bond with her little ones and teaching them a healthy lifestyle.

Kristy initially got the idea to workout alongside her kids when she had her first baby boy, Tucker. She said:

I thought I’d be able to go to the gym after I had him but it just wasn’t an option anymore. So we’d work out together and he would laugh and smile and if he’d get fussy I’d hold him – so it turned into a bonding experience for us. And then I continued it with Tate and now I’m continuing it with Quinn – and it’s just a lot of fun working out together.

She hopes her little ones will one day continue the workout lifestyle in the future, as she admits that they really enjoy working out alongside her, with Tucker exclaiming his favorite exercise is ‘squats!’

Kristy is a certified NASM Personal Trainer, and she specializes in pregnancy and postpartum fitness. When talking about her education and how she stays up to date, she revealed that she has to take new classes and certifications every year so she stays current.

“I want to stay up to date because I want my clients and the people that follow me to have the most current knowledge about exercise,” she said. “So, it’s important for me to continue my education and I love it.”

The 27-year-old has also posted a set of exercises she used to induce natural labor. She adds how these exercises have helped her to get her body ‘feeling right’. She says she did some stretching and exercises to help loosen the pelvis in order to allow more room for her baby daughter to come down farther. “Just doing these exercises along with the force of gravity it just helps push along things,” she said.

However, talking about how difficult it was to get back on track after giving birth, she admits how it was much harder after she welcomed her third child, Quinn, into the world. That’s because her daughter was a C-section baby. She said:

With the C-Section the recovery time was just a lot longer, everything is more sensitive, and I don’t think I bounced back as fast with the C-Section. So, we’re finding our routine one day at a time and slowly but surely I’m getting strong again…

Talking about her least favorite type of workout, she said it’s definitely cardio, saying:

I get so bored doing the same thing for a long time so I really don’t enjoy running. I don’t enjoy doing the same thing for 30-40-50 minutes.

So, her go-to is a ‘quick, fast, and efficient workout’ so she gets her full body moving and working.

Kristy really gets motivated by women doing strong and powerful things. So, seeing a woman do ‘badass workouts’ she says, motivates her to step up her game and push herself a little harder.

When it comes to her goals and challenges for 2019, she says she really wants to gain 10 more pounds of muscle back. She also said:

I really want to get into the swing of lifting heavier weights. And I’d really like to make my goal to work out 3 to 4 times a week, every single week, no matter what it is. Just be getting my workouts in 3 times a week.

When we asked her about her diet plan, Kristy admitted she doesn’t believe in doing crash diets and committing to them for a certain amount of time. She said:

I really believe in doing a transition into a healthy lifestyle food-vise. So, for me, I eat gluten-free and I really try to cut down the amount of grains I do. I focus on a high-protein, and a high-fat diet and that’s when I feel like I run the cleanest.

And for breastfeeding moms, she says it’s ‘important to be getting enough of those healthy fats like you do in avocado, nuts, and egg yolks’, so children will get the best nutrients.

“I really believe in low-carb, high-protein, high-fat,” she concluded, also admitting she cuts down processed food as much as possible and that low sugar is the key.

Shifting the attention to moms who aspire to start on the same journey as her, she lists a great number of benefits as motivation. One of the perks is that you don’t need to go to the gym, also you don’t need to get all the expensive equipment – “you can start simply at home in your living room,” she said.

According to her, it only takes 15 minutes to get a pretty good workout. And another perk is that you can ‘even include your kids’. As a piece of advice, she said:

So, start small. Make some small goals. I always say set the timer for 15 minutes and get as much as you can done in those 15 minutes!

Kudos to her from all of us at MetDaan!
