Lady Gaga And Bradley Cooper Will Be Performing “Shallow” At The Oscars

Lady Gaga and Bradley Cooper are officially taking to the stage at the 2019 Oscars to perform their song, “Shallow”, from A Star Is Born.

The news was announced by the official Academy Awards Twitter account, with a simple but to the point tweet, which read: Cooper. Gaga. “Shallow.” alongside the hashtag Oscars.

“Shallow” was written by Gaga, Mark Ronson, Anthony Rossomando and Andrew Wyatt and is nominated for Best Original Song at the 2019 Oscars. A Star Is Born also in the run for Best Picture, Best, Cinematography, and Sound Mixing.

Also nominated for Best Original Song are “All the Stars” from Black Panther, “The Place Where Lost Things Go” from Mary Poppins Returns, “I’ll Fight” from RBG and “When a Cowboy Trades His Spurs for Wings” from The Ballad of Buster Scruggs.

It was previously reported that only two of the Best Song nominees will be performed at the Oscars – “All the Stars” and “Shallow”, which are two of the biggest chart hits, but after receiving backlash, Variety now reports that the Academy has decided all five of the nominated songs will be performed – but only for 90 seconds each.

The Academy also tweeted the names of the other songs which will be performed, including “The Place Where Lost Things Go” from Mary Poppins Returns which will apparently be performed by a “special guest”.

After the tweet announcing the performance by Gaga and Cooper, the fans took to the replies to share their excitement – and demand that the song is sung in full! Though, whether their demands will be met, it’s doubtful…

The duo have managed to steal their fans’ hearts with their on-screen romance and off-screen friendship since the movie was released, and we even had a surprise reunion between them last Saturday night (January 26) during Gaga’s Enigma tour.

Cooper, 44, took to the stage to perform their hit song from the movie, Shallow, alongside the 32-year-old singer, giving their fans quite the (delightful) shock.

The Oscars will air live from the Dolby Theatre in Hollywood on February 24, and it will be the first year which the Academy Awards will be without a host after Kevin Hart stepped down as host in the wake of the controversy over his homophobic tweets.
