Met Gala dates back in 1948, and what started as a midnight dinner with extremely cheap tickets has turned into the most known fundraising gala. Not that celebrities don’t slay us with their existence every day, but they leave us all in awe during this show. Met Gala is the place to express creativity and to show the world just how you do it.
Not that it is any news, but Lady Gaga truly owned the night. She has been a fashion icon for years now and she did not disappoint in the annual event of the Metropolitan Museum of Art’s Costume Institute. She fashioned herself four different costumes in the show-stopping entrance and she slayed in each and every one of them. And no, no meat dresses this time. We are sorry. (or are we not?)
This year the theme for the event was “Camp,” which Susan Montag’s 1964 essay defines as “love of the unnatural, of artifice and exaggeration.”
A voluminous fuchsia cape gown with a 25-foot train.
Her second choice of outfit was a black elegant dress, matched with an umbrella. Yup, she really did channel her inner Mary Poppins.
The Shallow singer looked absolutely stunning in sparkly black undergarments.
And for her last appearance, Gaga opted for a Barbie pink column gown.
