Hamel Patel from North Carolina is a model and makeup artist who decided to create eight Disney Princesses inspired looks but with her own twist on the classic fairy tale heroines. She shared the photos with her 35.4k followers and they went viral pretty fast. The model decided to transform herself into Disney princesses but using traditional Indian clothing.
‘Growing up, I always wished there was a Disney Princess I could relate to, one that represented where I came from,’ she wrote on Instagram, revealing her inspiration for the series. ‘So I came up with this idea many months ago and I’m so happy how they turned out!’
Patel transformed herself into Snow White, Cinderella, Belle, Jasmine, Mulan, Pocahontas, Aurora, and Ariel, as you can see in this list compiled by Daily Mail.
1. Snow White
She started with Snow White and wore a royal blue dress with gold accents. She also added ornate gold and ruby jewelry to complete her look.
As for the makeup, she used red lipstick and blue eyeliner.
For her Cinderella look, she wore a blue sari and jewelry from her mom’s collection.
As for the makeup, the model used a matching shade of blue and nude lips.
3. Aurora from Sleeping Beauty
For the Aurora look, the model wore traditional Indian clothing that she paired with gold jewelry.
As for the makeup, she showed off her talent and makeup skills by creating gorgeous look consisting of pink eyeshadow and pink lipstick.
4. Ariel from The Little Mermaid
For her version of The Little Mermaid’s Ariel, Hamel created a look consisting of two-tone purple and aqua sari and a ‘dinglehopper’ in her hair.
As for the makeup, she added shimmering glitter to the corners of her eyes.
5. Belle from Beauty and the Beast
For this look, she wore a bright yellow sari and even added a red rose to complete the look.
For the makeup, she wore a red lipstick and gold eyeshadow.
6. Princess Jasmine from Aladdin
Princess Jasmine was Hamel’s favorite look. She wore a turquoise sari and sheer headscarf.
She also wore big earrings and gold jewelry on her head, both from New York-based, Golden Collections.
This look mixed the model’s Indian heritage with Native American culture. She wore a red and yellow outfit with Native American-inspired seed bead jewelry.
For her makeup, she decided on shades of brown and tan and a turquoise liner.
For Mulan, she wore a patterned dress with a forest green scarf detail and statement earrings.
