Remember origami? The thing you learned as a kid while trying to make a plane and stick it, from afar, in your teacher’s ear? Well, this guy hailed it.
School antics aside, this guy is an origami master. His name is Cristian Marianciuc, and boy, DOES he love to work with paper. I bet he loves paper than I’ve loved all of my girlfriends cumulatively!
Anyways, Cristian is very ambitious about his hobby, which is why he challenged himself to a 100-days project in 2015. He was going to create a visual diary (kind of), by folding 1 origami crane every day.
But within three months the 100 days were over, and he found it too easy. So he upped the challenge and made it a full year – 365 days, 365 origami cranes.
Buuuut, as things go with efforts like these that don’t actually exhaust you, he wanted to make it even harder on himself: he would create AND decorate 1000 origami cranes in 1000 days. Roughly, 3 years, and then some. Now THAT was a challenge. Additionally, it fit the Japanese tradition known as ‘senbazuru’, which states that whoever folds a thousand paper cranes will be granted a wish.
NOW we’re talking.
Needless to say, Cristian achieved his goal. As for the wish, we’re not sure? He’s yet to tell us. But one thing is certain – he sure made a lot of beautiful origami cranes, and deserved the internet’s attention. Thanks to Bored Panda, we can now share the 30 Best Origami Cranes that Cristian Marianciuc made.
