Ben Breedlove was born with a rare heart condition called hypertrophic cardiomyopathy. The doctors told his parents, Shawn and Deanne that no cure existed and their baby boy would be suffering from the condition forever.
After the horrible news, the parents decided that instead of wallowing in self-pity, they should be thankful for every day they get to spend with their son. Days, months and years passed and Ben grew up but every once in a while his heart condition would surface.
He suffered through three cardiac arrests, and every time he would tell his parents about the visions of heaven he saw during them. He would say he saw the bright lights and angels in the “waiting rooms of heaven.”
He couldn’t describe the wonderful, peaceful feeling he felt. But since his friends and family wanted to know more about his visions, he made video blogs and posted them on YouTube.
In 2011, on Christmas day, the boy had another cardiac arrest which was his last. He passed away that night at the young age of 18. Ben had become very popular back then because of the videos he posted. When the news of his death spread around the world, 1.400 people attended his funeral with another 11,000 watching online.
The last video he posted was a week before his death. When people at the funeral kept asking the parents what they thought about it, they had no clue what they were talking about. When they got home, they watched the video and they were speechless. You can watch the video down below which has millions of views now. It impacted a lot of people’s lives.
“We sat down as a family and we watched the video,” Shawn said. “He’s got this unbelievable smile on his face and you can tell he’s at peace. This peace that he talked to us about and he prayed for us to have.”
