A lot has been going on in Ariana Grande’s life in the past few months. Just recently she and Pete Davidson called off their engagement shortly after Mac Miller died due to overdose. No matter the terms the couple ended up in, it seems that Pete Davidson is not holding grudges against Ariana. Actually, he spoke the kindest words about his ex-fiancee on SNL. The episode aired in less than an hour after Ariana had released a breakup song.
The couple called it quits last month after they enjoyed a little bit of summer romance with each other. However, things got rather weird and messy when the comedian joked about their broken engagement on one of his live shows. But, Ariana has decided to show off her claws too, and she did so by clapping back at everyone with her new single, “Thank u, Next”.
But all in all, Pete Davidson had some very kind things to say about Ariana. Live on the SNL’ Weekend Update, Davidson, 24, said:
I know some of you are curious about the breakup, but the truth is, it’s nobody’s business and sometimes things just don’t work out, and that’s OK. She’s a wonderful, strong person and I genuinely wish her all the happiness in the world. Now please, go vote on Tuesday, alright?
It seems like an honest and genuine reply, although I am sure people didn’t expect him to react so calmly about this whole thing.
Before that, host Jonah Hill had prepared an opening sketch, respectively a monologue. The sketch showed him joining SNL Five-Timers Club and chilling with Five-Timers Tina Fey, Drew Barrymore, and Candice Bergen, who says that she is going to have another “Pete Davidson” drink. Puzzled about what it is, she was asked to explain it. She said:
Well, all I know is it’s got a lot going on, but it gets the job done.
Pete seems to be in a good mood. He was smiling from ear to ear as he was headed to the weekly SNL after-party.
The SNL promo that took quite a toll on Ariana Grande was the one where Pete Davidson kiddingly proposes to the guest, Maggie Rogers. But when she refuses his proposal, he says he is “0 for 3”. That’s when Ariana took to Twitter to say a few words. She tweeted:
For somebody who claims to hate relevancy [you] sure love clinging to it huh…Thank u, next.
See, the thing is that, according to E! News, the singer and the comedian had “made an agreement that they would not address their relationship or discuss it after they split up. He violated that agreement and it really hurt her.” Though another source said that the joke was rather self-deprecating.
