P!nk has just been honored with a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame.
And after twenty years in the industry, 90 million sold records, three Grammy Awards, a Brit, an Emmy, a MTV Video Music Award and being named Pop Artist of the Decade by Billboard, all we have to say is “it was about time!”
She received the star on Tuesday, February 5, and was joined at the Los Angeles event by her husband Carey Hart, and her two children.
According to the Billboard, the 39-year-old singer told the crowds:
This is surreal. It has been a trip lately thinking back over the course of this career I’ve somehow managed to have. I signed my first record deal 23 years ago. I have achieved exactly what I wanted to achieve.
She goes on to say that she’s always known what her strong points were, and she took advantage of those instead of trying to become something she wasn’t.
“I charge and I charge and I charge,” she said. “And I don’t give up. So when I wasn’t selling records, I was still selling out arenas. I didn’t need to win any popularity contests; I wanted to be a fucking touring artist and I wanted to be great at what I did.”
The singer, whose real name is Alecia Moore, also thanked her kids, Willow and Jameson, telling them, “You guys are my stars, and I would never shine without you.”
P!nk has always been outspoken about being an aging woman in the industry, and last year, she shut down a fan who told her she looks so old that she should be ‘called Purple instead’.
You must be from la. Well, there are a few people left in the world that choose to age naturally. And I’ve earned every fucking minute of my 38 years. How you lookin though? Cause I never heard of ya til you put my name in your mouth. I shall call you little purple troll. https://t.co/3WcH2TRrHW

She told them that there are still people in the world who “choose to age naturally” and she’s earned every minute of her (then) 38 years of life. “How you lookin though?” she humorously continued. “Cause I never heard of ya til you put my name in your mouth. I shall call you little purple troll.”
Her Walk of Fame Star comes only days before the Grammys, where she is nominated for best pop vocal album for ‘Beautiful Trauma’. Ellen DeGeneres and “Reno 911” star Kerri Kenney-Silver also held speeches at the ceremony.
It had previously been announced by the Hollywood Chamber of Commerce on January 24th that the singer would be receiving a star. Ana Martinez, the Walk of Fame Producer said: “We are thrilled to honor one of the world’s most popular entertainers.”
P!nk has been recognized under the recording category, with the WOF’s other 2,656 stars.
