Kensington Palace’s statement read as below:
Their Royal Highnesses The Duke and Duchess of Sussex are very pleased to announce that The Duchess of Sussex is expecting a baby in the Spring of 2019.
The Royal Highnesses appreciated everyone who has shared their support since the day the couple got married:
Their Royal Highnesses have appreciated all of the support they have received from people around the world since their wedding in May and are delighted to be able to share this happy news with the public.
According to a source who spoke for People, Meghan is “Feeling well,” as she has had her 12-week scan. As the Royal Highnesses are expecting their spring baby, we hope they get blessed around the same date the couple tied the knot.
The pair began dating in July 2016 after meeting on a blind date and were first revealed as a couple in October 2016. During their high-speed, long-distance courtship, Harry and Meghan spent time together at each other’s respective homes in London and Toronto, where Markle filmed Suits. They now reside at Kensington Palace.
Currently, the Royal couple is in Australia for their first royal tour together. The couple made it to Sydney, Australia, early Monday local time. And, of course, they arrived there hand-in-hand just like their very first appearance together last year at Invictus Games in Toronto.
The Duchess’s mother, Doria Ragland didn’t hold back to issue a statement via Kensington Palace expressing how happy she is.
Ms. Ragland is very happy about this lovely news and she looks forward to welcoming her first grandchild.
Everyone at the Kensington Palace is so “delighted” beginning from Prince William, Kate Middleton, the Queen, Prince Philip, Prince Charles, Camilla and the Duchess of Cornwall – for the parents-to-be.
While, the senior members of the Royal Family who were there for Princess Eugenie’s wedding on Friday, had a chance to congratulate the couple in person.
It looks like the Duke of Cambridge and the Duchess of Cambridge’s children won’t be on the spotlight anymore as they have been stealing spotlight since they were welcomed into the world, also, in the Royal Wedding of Prince Harry and Meghan Markle, as well as, Princess Eugenie’s wedding. On the other hand, Prince Louis, even though only 6 months old, will be so happy having a perfect playmate for his cousin.
The Royal Highnesses did talk about the desire to start a family before, and Prince Harry playfully shut down a suggestion that he should have five children.
This is what the Duke of Sussex had to say when asked about creating his own family:
Of course, you know, one step at a time. Hopefully we’ll start a family in the near future.
During an outing in March, the couple met a husband-and-wife team who make innovative and hypoallergenic baby products. Pointing to the products, Meghan said:
Prince Harry has also had plenty of experience being around children as uncle to William’s three children. On his wedding day, both he and Meghan were captivated by the youngest members of their wedding party.
Meghan Markle’s longtime friend and makeup artist, Daniel Martin told People:
They wanted to see their family and see the kids and be together, So when it was time to take a photo, it was really easy and harmonious and joyful, and Harry was playing with the kids.
