Don’t we all have a teacher from back in the day that was so amazing that they’ll always have a special place in your heart? That’s the thing with teachers, they can either be really good that they make every class fun and you love them, they’re fine enough but pretty boring, or they are downright awful.
Today, I am about to introduce a teacher of the first kind, meaning really darn awesome! Meet Professor Nathan Alexander, a math lecturer at Morehouse College in Atlanta, Georgia. On Friday’s class (March 1), as he was lecturing he got a cute new addition to his class.
One of his students had taken his baby daughter along with him to the class because he had not been able to find a babysitter, and, as a dedicated student, he also hadn’t been willing to miss the lecture.
So, Mr. Alexander had taken over babysitting duties himself, holding the little girl and allowing the father to take notes and follow the lesson.
A fellow student captured the moment on camera and shared it on Twitter, explaining what was happening. He wrote: “Student came to class today with his child due to no babysitter or anybody to watch her while he was in class. My professor NATHAN ALEXANDER said “I’ll hold her so you can take good notes!”

According to a lengthier post from the student, not only did the teacher hold the baby through the entire lecture, but he also carried on holding her afterwards as he answered students’ questions. “It was this encounter that truly showed me the power and impact HBCU’s can have for the black community,” he wrote. “For this professor to understand that life happens and sometimes there are just no ways around it.”

Naturally, people loved it and the post currently has over 62,000 retweets and 261,000-plus likes on Twitter.
And, it turns out, the professor is just an all-around amazing guy as another of his students chimed in to call him “one of my favorite professors” adding that Mr. Alexander “genuinely cares for the students and sacrifices his personal time always to help in any way possible.”

And finally, the teacher himself got involved in the hype, responding to the original poster to thank him and say that he appreciates the love.

Have you ever had a similar encounter with a teacher/professor? Not necessarily holding someone’s baby, but an understanding act of kindness? Share it with us.
