Getting Your Eyelashes Done Soon? Here Are The Pros and Cons Of Getting Eyelash Extensions

I have this problem where I am very lazy in the morning and would rather sleep for 30 more minutes than getting up and using those minutes to put makeup up on. But I also love putting mascara on and not looking really tired, which is how I actually look like in the morning.

The good thing is that nowadays there are ways I can darken my eyelashes without having to coat them with mascara. Your dream of waking up with flawless, long, fluffy lashes can be achieved with semi-permanent eyelash extensions. You get to decide, the length, the thickness. Make sure the technician is a professional and providing you with the best treatment. You can get three types of lashes: synthetic, silk, and mink. Are they going to make your life 10 times better? Absolutely, but it is going to be difficult to take care of them and make sure your natural eyelashes are not damaged.

Just like any other thing, there are advantages and disadvantages. In this article, we’ll see a few of the pros and cons of eyelash extensions. Everything you need to know before getting them, and how to take care of them.

PROS

1. Your makeup routine will be shorter

I consider this to be the best thing about lash extension besides having long, fluffy eyelashes. Your makeup routine is going to take less time than it usually does because you won’t need to put coats of mascara on. Clementine Richardson, founder of Envious Lashes says that after her clients do their lashes the need to do mascara, curl your lashes, or put eye makeup goes away immediately.

There might be days where you can go out without putting makeup on at all, not like you can’t do that when you don’t have eyelash extension, but you get my point.

2. Customize your own eyelashes

You want longer, fuller, darker eyelashes or maybe do them according to your eye shape? Well, you can get whatever you want, just ask the specialist and get your own version of perfect eyelashes.

3. No more mascara

Do you ever get up in the morning and look at yourself in the mirror and see the dark mascara underneath your eyes even though you did take your makeup off last night? That is no longer going to happen because mascara is not recommended to use. It will make the eyelashes clump and there’s no need for darker lashes because the false ones will already be dark enough.

4. They last for a long time

With proper care, you can have your extensions last for more than a month. It is recommended to go for a refill every 2-3 weeks but the better you take care of them the longer they last.

CONS

1. The long process

Prepare yourself to take a nap for about two hours because that’s how long it takes. The procedure is worth all the hours you spend because the end result is you having those Kardashian lashes pretty much everyone wants.

2. It’s expensive

A whole set of extensions will set you back at least a hundred dollars (depending on the type of eyelashes you want.) But if you want to get them done professionally, not have any problems with them, then the price is reasonable. Save a little and don’t just get them done for the sake of trying new things.

3. Maintaining

One of the disadvantages of extensions is that you have to constantly be careful, not to rub your eyes. You have to follow a set of rules to make sure that your own natural lashes are healthy and won’t get damaged. DO NOT pull them yourself! Several weeks after getting them done you will have sparse areas because they will fall on their own, please don’t do anything unless it’s coming from your esthetician. Not only will it hurt when you pull the lashes out which should be the least of your worries but you are risking your natural lashes to fall too.

4. Allergies

Please make sure you are not allergic to the glue that the specialist is using. Often time people go and don’t do any sort of research on the ingredients. Ask, ask, ask there’s no harm in doing that.

5. The lashes only last for a few weeks

The downside to this is that they are not permanent. Whoever is naturally blessed with long beautiful lashes, do you know how lucky you are? There are times where you can’t afford the three weeks visits to the salon, or maybe your days are simply busy, you can always stick to just getting them done on special occasions.

6. Makeup choices

If you like doing dramatic eye looks you have to be really really careful, the choices might be limited but you have to be cautious not to ruin the extensions. Black smokey eye? Eyeliner? Just don’t go too close to the lash line.

And that’s it, however, make sure you talk with your specialist beforehand. Take your time, do your research, and then flaunt your eyelashes when you get them done!
