The upcoming 25th James Bond movie is still a year away, but it now has a villain – and it’s one we’re probably going to be rooting for…
It was announced on Thursday that Oscar-winner Rami Malek will the joining the cast of James Bond alongside Daniel Craig, as the movie’s yet-unnamed villain.
The 25th Bond movie will be Craig’s fifth and last time portraying the famous agent. The news was revealed in a live stream that aired yesterday, April 25, from Ian Fleming’s estate in Jamaica – which is where he came up with the idea for Bond.
Along with Malek’s addition, it was also announced that Ralph Fiennes, Rory Kinnear, Ben Whishaw, Naomie Harris, Lea Seydoux and Jeffrey Wright will all be coming back and that Killing Eve’s Phoebe Waller-Bridge will be co-writing.

Malek, 37, couldn’t personally be there but he did join in via video link, where he said: “Hi everyone, this is Rami Malek and I’m not jealous one bit that you’re all in the absolutely stunning setting of Ian Fleming’s iconic Caribbean home Goldeneye, on the island of Jamaica. I’m stuck here in New York in production, but I am very much looking forward to joining the whole cast and crew so very soon.”
He also joked that he “will be making sure Mr. Bond does not have an easy ride of it in this, his 25th outing.”
While there are still no details about the movie, it was announced that it begins during Bond’s vacation in Jamaica.
The movie’s plot reads:
Bond has left active service and is enjoying a tranquil life in Jamaica. His peace is short-lived when his old friend Felix Leiter from the CIA turns up asking for help.
The mission to rescue a kidnapped scientist turns out to be far more treacherous than expected, leading Bond onto the trail of a mysterious villain armed with dangerous new technology.
So, one more reason to get excited as Malek is likely to completely crush this role!
